Roman Shade How-to Instructions

There are a lot of places online where you can find instructions on making your own roman shades. In our opinion, many of them are lacking, so we wanted to list a few notable guides here. Of course, you should feel free to search around and find other roman shade project instructions to your liking.  Then, be sure to share what you've found in the comments below.

Terrell Designs
Terrell Sundermann has videos as well as detailed instructions with diagrams available online.  She even has her own roman shade blog.

For Dummies
No offense, but the “For Dummies” website has some pretty good roman shade instructions with a materials list, step-by-step instructions, and diagrams.

Brown Paper Packages
This website has a comprehensive tutorial with written instructions and step-by-step pictures of their project.  They do use tube tape for their project, for which we’d recommend substituting roman shade tape.

Have you found any other resources on making roman shades that you’d recommend? We’d love to hear from you. Post your comments below.

Roman Shade Hardware

Here are some products you can purchase right here on our website to help complete your DIY roman shade project. Depending on your particular project, you might not need all of these. For example, if you choose to use cord locks, then you likely won’t need any cord cleats.

Roman Shade Tape
This tape comes with the plastic loops already attached, which will save you a step in the DIY process.
